As we rolled into Houston today we learned of a water main break near the U of H campus. As fortune would have it, the break directly affects the natatorium. The city is working on the problem and hope to have it up and going by morning. However, that may not happen.
We are coordinating plans with the U of H staff and will advise changes if they are required. The major changes for the beginning of the meet include the following:
- The lobby area and common areas will not be open or accessible.
- Teams and parents will enter through the outside doors with fans going upstairs and team members inside after 8 am
- Teams arriving prior to 8 am will be directed to the second floor seating until the pool deck is open for our use.
- Timers will need to come down the outside stairs and enter the pool from the outside when their session is timing
- Registration will be on the pool deck for coaches
- Please bring your releases for all staff, students and timers to turn in upon arrival
- You will receive your coaches materials at that time
- Unfortunately with no running water, the bathrooms will not be functional so U of H has brought in porta potties which will be located near the entry doors
- Dressing rooms would not be available for showers or bathrooms – unless approved by U of H
If water is restored we will operate as we have in the past with the lobby and dressing rooms open.
Our hope is that water will be restored, however if not we will work hard to make the best out of the hand we are dealt. The meet will provide our student athletes the opportunity to compete and we will do our best to make it the very best it can be for all.
