Where can I find the rules governing transferring students?
Section 104 outlines the basic rules for students transferring to a new high school
Who is considered a “transfer Student” in TAPPS?
A high school student who moves to a new high school.
A high school student who attends activities prior to the first day of school with a new school, this includes incoming ninth grade students participating in Volleyball or Football initial practices.
Does a student moving between 8th grade and high school considered a transferring student?
Generally speaking, these students are not considered transfer students.
Review the question above in regards to 8th graders practicing with a new school prior to the firs day of school.
Does the Transfer Rule apply if the student did not participate in athletics at the previous school?
The rules do apply as the student is attending a new school
The Student Transfer Form must be completed and submitted
A previous Athletic Participation form is not required to be obtained from the previous school
The student will not be eligible for varsity participation until eligibility is established through the transfer process
Where do I find the forms I will need to complete the transfer process?
The STF and PAPF are forms that will become eligible to the parents once they complete the student profile in Rank One.
How long does it take for a student’s eligibility to be established at the new school?
The process requires several steps, at a minimum expect 7 business days from the time the school submits all forms to TAPPS to begin the review process.
What if my previous school refuses to sign the Previous Athletic Participation Form (PAPF)?
This does occur from time to time.
The new school will submit all forms as with all other transferring students
A letter of explanation from the member school should accompany the forms
The TAPPS office will review all information
The submission will be sent to the sport and district in which the student will participate
The district will review and can establish eligibility after the review
Can I use the same PAPF form the UIL uses?
The TAPPS PAPF should be used.
Can a transferring student participate in practice prior to completion of transfer process?
Students may practice and participate in sub-varsity contests prior to approval
Is there a problem if my previous coach or trainer moves to the new school and m student chooses to now attend that school?
These concerns are addressed in Section 104 of the By-Laws.

May my student participate in activities at the new school if they have not withdrawn from the previous school?
No, dual enrollment at two high schools is not permitted
What are the Transfer Deadlines?
Students are required to meet several conditions prior to the deadline in order to be eligible for that season
These conditions include
Be withdrawn from the previous school
Be enrolled in the new school
Be a full time day student attending the new school
The transfer process does not have to be completed by the dates shown on the TAPPS calendar.
How does the Transfer process work for Fine Art Students who do not compete in athletics?
Fine Art students not competing in athletics do not have to complete a PAPF and are not certified by the districts, but they are certified by the TAPPS office.
Students are required to meet several conditions prior to the deadline in order to be eligible for that season

Be enrolled in the new school
Be a full time day student attending the new school
