TAPPS By-Laws – Baseball
Format
- The approved format for TAPPS Baseball playoffs is as follows:
- A two out of three series
- Exceptions:
- A single game is mandated by TAPPS (Bi-District Contests) or
- A single game is mutually agreed upon by the two coaches involved in the series or
- A single game results due to weather or other conditions that preclude a series being completed in advance of the published deadline on the official TAPPS calendar
- If one school desires a three game series and the opponent school desires a one game series, a coin flip shall determine the playoff format
- TAPPS hosts the Semi-Finals and Championship which will be a single game.
Location:
- All games shall be played at the same site including
- playoff rounds hosted at the higher seed and
- playoff rounds hosted at neutral sites
Schedule of Games:
- Schedule
- All games must be completed by the certification date posted on the TAPPS calendar
- All games shall be played over two (2) consecutive days
- Note: a Saturday and Monday series does not count towards this requirement
- Order of play (three game series)
- No exceptions to the order as presented below
- Day 1 – Game 1 and Game 2
- Day 2 – Game 3 if necessary
- No exceptions to the order as presented below
- In the event weather prevents the three game series from being possible, the team winning the first game shall be declared the winner
Batting Order
- If home and away
- Game 1 – Host Team shall bat last
- Game 2 – non-Host team shall bat last
- Game 3 – Coin Flip to determine batting order
- If neutral site
- Game 1 Coin Flip winner (choice of batting order)
- Game 2 Coin Flip loser (choice of batting order)
- Game 3 Coin Flip – (choice of batting order)
Pitch Count
- All rules remain in effect
- If a game is suspended or deemed a no contest, all pitches thrown in the contest prior to termination shall be counted in the pitch count rules
- Tournament rules apply only if the games are played on consecutive days (no exceptions due to weather or postponement)
