Media

It is the intent of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) to provide media access to the TAPPS Regional and State events.  TAPPS understands that different media concerns have different needs and attempts to address those concerns as follows.

  1. CREDENTIALED MEDIA PERSONNEL
    • Approval
      • Submit MEDIA REQUEST FORM
      • Must be approved prior to event.
    • Limitations
      • School Media are limited to four (4) people per school
      • Includes Print, Photography, Digital and Video Media
    • Access
      • Pass grants admission to event
      • Floor or Field access as allowed by event host
      • Pass may be revoked by TAPPS Administrator
  2. SCHOOL MEDIA
    • Approval
      • Submit SCHOOL MEDIA REQUEST FORM
      • Must be approved prior to event.
    • Limitations
      • School Media are limited to two (2) people per school
      • Includes Print, Photography, Digital and Video Media
    • Access
      • Pass does not grant admission to event
      • Floor or Field access limited to designated areas
      • Pass may be revoked by TAPPS Administrator
  3. ON SITE PHOTOGRAPHY
    • TAPPS does not recognize one official photographer for TAPPS events.  Those wishing to work events shall:
      • Complete the MEDIA REQUEST FORM found on the TAPPS website under the forms tab.
      • Submit the form to the TAPPS office for approval prior to the event.
      • Make payment to TAPPS in the amount of $150. per event.
      • Baseball and Softball are considered two (2) separate events.
    • FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY
      • The use of electronic flash equipment is prohibited at all indoor events.
      • The use of a strobe flash is allowed.
      • If either team head coach, or event director at individual sport events, request strobe flash be discontinued, their request shall be honored.
  4. RADIO
    • Radio broadcasts, whether over air or internet, are limited to one per team per game.
    • Each station or broadcaster will be limited to two (2) media passes per game.
    • TAPPS does not guarantee power, phone or internet access at the event sites.
    • Upon approval, Broadcasters should contact the event host if additional resources are necessary upon approval from the TAPPS office.
    • To Broadcast a TAPPS game, the following steps apply:
      • Complete the MEDIA REQUEST FORM found on the TAPPS website under the FORMS tab.
      • Submit the form to the TAPPS office for approval prior to the event.
      • Make payment to TAPPS in the amount of
        1. Live Broadcast            $300 per game
        2. Delayed Broadcast     $150 per game
      • Baseball and Softball are considered two (2) separate events.
  5. INTERNET RADIO BROADCASTS 
    • Radio broadcasts, whether over air or internet, are limited to one per team per game.
    • Each station or broadcaster will be limited to two (2) media passes per game.
    • TAPPS does not guarantee power, phone or internet access at the event sites.
    • Upon approval, Broadcasters should contact the event host if additional resources are necessary upon approval from the TAPPS office.

    • Upon approval, Broadcasters should contact the event host if additional resources are necessary upon approval from the TAPPS office.

  7. INTERNET VIDEO BROADCASTS
    • Internet video broadcasts,are limited to one per team per game.
    • Each station or broadcaster will be limited to two (4) media passes per game.
    • TAPPS does not guarantee power, phone or internet access at the event sites.
    • Upon approval, Broadcasters should contact the event host if additional resources are necessary upon approval from the TAPPS office.
    • To Broadcast a TAPPS game, the following steps apply:

      • Submit the form to the TAPPS office for approval prior to the event.
      • Make payment to TAPPS in the amount of
        1. Live Broadcast            $600 per event.
        2. Delayed Broadcast $300 per event
    • Baseball and Softball are considered two (2) separate events
  8. VIDEOTAPES, CDs, DVD or other DIGITAL MEDIA
    • Video, CD, DVD, and Digital Media,are limited as necessary by TAPPS.
    • Entity will be limited to four (4) media passes per game.
    • TAPPS does not guarantee power, phone or internet access at the event sites.
    • Upon approval, Broadcasters should contact the event host if additional resources are necessary upon approval from the TAPPS office.
    • To Broadcast a TAPPS game, the following steps apply:
      • Complete the MEDIA REQUEST FORM found on the TAPPS website under the FORMS tab.
      • Submit the form to the TAPPS office for approval prior to the event.
      • Make payment to TAPPS in the amount of
        1. Event Fee                $100 per event.
        2. Additional Fees      15% of Gross Sales
    • Baseball and Softball are considered two (2) separate events
  9. INTERNET MAGAZINES / SITES / MESSAGE BOARDS
    • TAPPS will consider requests on an individual basis. Those wishing to work events shall:
      • Complete the MEDIA REQUEST FORM found on the TAPPS website under the FORMS tab.
      • Submit the form to the TAPPS office for approval prior to the event.
      • Make payment to TAPPS in the amount of $150. per event.
      • Baseball and Softball are considered two (2) separate events.

    • The following sites will not be granted media credentials:
      • Personal page internet site publishers
      • Paid Subscription-based internet sites
      • Internet sites associated in any way with the promotion of alcohol, tobacco, gambling, political election issues/candidates or lewd subject matter as determined by TAPPS,
      • Any site determined by TAPPS to be in poor taste or out of compliance with the TAPPS mission
      • Sites that do not produce original content on a daily basis. These sites are at the discretion of TAPPS.
  10. TAPPS USAGETAPPS will be provided with
    • up to 15 Digital images, 
    • a complete copy of any DVD or similar instrument ,
    • and free access to any live or delayed broadcast.
  11. NOTIFICATION TO MEDIA – TAPPS member schools shall
    • notify local media of these requirements,
    • insure payment will be made to TAPPS for all broadcasts if broadcast is initiated by the schools involved.
  12. CONTRACTS Contracts for photography, radio, TV or video for sale must be made through the Director at the TAPPS State office.
  13. FEES All fees shall be
    • PAID IN FULL prior to event
    • FEES are paid to TAPPS.
