Field event  athlete check-in is at the event site

Throwing Events:

  1. Implements should be marked with the school name.
  2. All Implements must be checked in Thursday from 5-7pm or Friday morning by 9am.
  3. Implements shall be impounded at the above times and delivered to the site prior to the event. Implements will not be released until the finals in each event is concluded.
    1. The school representative who brings the implements to weigh-in must sign that the implements have been entered.
    2. The school representative must sign to have the implements returned after the competition.
    3. Implements may be picked up at the conclusion of competition at the awards tent.
    4. Implements that do not pass inspection may be retrieved from the TAPPS Awards tent on Saturday.
  4. The Implement Check in room is located as shown on the facility diagram.
  5. Shot put and discus circles are concrete, so plan for appropriate foot wear.
  6. The shot put area may not meet High School Federation standards, however, it meets university Standards. It is official for the TAPPS State Meet.
  7. After 3 attempts, the order shall be reversed, so that best performance in the preliminaries competes last in the finals. An athlete must have a qualified throw in the firt three (3) attempts to qualify for the finals.

 

Pole Vault:

  1. Competition is run by classification whenever possible
  2. Rule 7, Section 5, Article 3 of the National Federation Rules states….“The Competitor’s weight shall be at or below the manufacturer’s Pole rating. The manufacturers must include on each pole: the pole rating that shall be a minimum of 3/4 inch in a contrasting color located within or above the top hand-
    Hold position; a 1 inch circular band indicating the maximum top handhold position with the position being determined by the manufacturer”.
  3. PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION, THE COACH MUST CERTIFY THE POLE MEETS STUDENT WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS AND ALL POLES MUST PASS INSPECTION.
  4. Time limits per vaulter will be enforced, using the following procedure:
    1. A time judge will be used.
    2. A cone or marker will be set on the runway by the judge until the bar is set.
    3. Once the bar is set and standards are adjusted, the cone or marker is removed and the watch is started.
    4. At 45 seconds, a flag goes up to warn the vaulter that he/she has 15 seconds to begin the approach.
    5. At one minute the red flag goes up for a foul.
    6. If the vaulter has not begun the approach in the one minute period, it counts as a miss.
    7. Starting Heights
      1. MINIMUM HEIGHTS
        1. Boys – 9’
        2. Girls – 7’
        3. The minimum heights shall be in place for the championship meet regardless of the qualifying heights from the regional meets.
  5. The pole vault bar is moved 6″ at a time until the State Record is tied; then 2″ at a time.(See Manual Section 187)

High Jump:

  1. Competition is run by classification whenever possible
  2. Starting Heights
    1. MINIMUM HEIGHTS
      1. Boys – 5′  4″
      2. Girls – 4′  4″
      3. The minimum heights shall be in place for the championship meet regardless of the qualifying heights from the regional meets.
  3. The high jump bar is moved 2″ at a time until the State Record is tied; then 2″ at a time.(See Manual Section 187)
