Jabari Raul Collins is the technical director at G. W. Carver High Magnet, Panther Players troupe #6753. He was selected as the Texas Educator’s Theatre Association 2021 Secondary Teacher of the Year. He was awarded the coveted title of Carver High School’s 2015 Teacher of the Year & district secondary teacher of the year finalist. Over his 13 years at Carver, the troupe has advanced to Regionals 9x, earned State Alternate 6x and recently advanced to 6A state ranking in the top 5. Also during his time at Carver, the troupe has been nominated over 100 times in the Tommy Tune Awards, winning over 20 times. His program has been nominated for best musical 7 times and won 2 times, the troupe has had 3 students win best musical, which earned them the honor of competing at the National Jimmy’s Awards in New York. The troupe has been privileged to have over 200 students qualify for nationals with the Texas Thespians, and 10 students for 4 consecutive years achieve a Thespy’s award at the national festival. Jabari is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and serves as the director of education for his chapter. He is a veteran of the United States Army where he served for nine months in Balaad, Iraq. Jabari received his Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and Master’s in Education Administration degree from Prairie View A&M University. He is the board President and production manager for Shabach Enterprise & “Fade to Black”, the first playwright festival for African American playwrights in Houston. He is a certified UIL contest manager, UIL technical design adjudicator, and member of USITT, he serves as house manager/ adjudicator for Texas Thespians.
Jill Henson has a BS and and MA in History from The University of Texas at Tyler. She has been a high school theatre director since 2005. Additionally, she has taught Speech and Debate, US History, and Dual Credit US History. Jill has been fortunate to have competed in UIL One-Act Play at all levels of competition, taking shows to the State Meet four times and placing third in 2024. She has also hosted and contest-managed OAP contests since 2012. Currently, Jill is the theatre director and forensics coach at Centerville Jr/Sr High School. She loves the competitive theatre process for the confidence, relationship opportunities, life-long memories, and various life discoveries it offers to students.
Jim Rambo is a retired professor of theatre having served at three different colleges over a 39-year period. He is a long time UIL adjudicator having judged well over 250 contests. He feels honored to judge state UIL one act play contests 9 times and is the 1-A acting judge for 2025. He serves as a clinician for UIL and TAPPS with middle and high schools. He has conducted many acting and directing workshops at TxETA Theatrefest, Texas Thespians and for many high schools across the state on their home campus. He currently teaches privately with Studio Rambo. He is the adjudicator coordinator for Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools one act play contest and has served as an adjudicator for American College Theater Festival and the Palm Awards. He has served as President of Texas Educational Theatre Association and was the second Chairperson for Texas Theatre Adjudicators Organization. Jim received six directing awards from American College Theater Festival. We was named the 1985 Educator of the Year for Community/Junior colleges with Texas Educational Theatre Association. His production of Melanie Marnich’s QUAKE was a Region VI festival winner and was named an alternate for the national Kennedy Center/American College Theater Festival in 2003. Jim is a Founder’s Award recipient with Texas Educational Theatre Association and was also honored in 2018 with the coveted Emeritus Award. He currently serves on the TxETA Financial Advisory Committee and is Chair of the TxETA Leadership Development Committee. He has been nominated two times for the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor Award and was also a nominee for The Carnegie Foundation for Teaching Excellence. “Rambo” continues to be a devoted disciple of educational theatre and joyfully learns from student and professional performers, technicians, designers, directors, playwrights and fellow adjudicators.
