Joel Garza
Joel is a lecturer in theatre and communication at The University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley where he was nominated as UT Regent’s Outstanding Teaching Award in 2020. He holds both a bachelors and masters degree in communication studies, and a masters degree in theatre. Joel currently serves as Board Secretary for The Palm Awards, a theatrical award for high school students in the RGV and has spoken at numerous conferences regarding theatre and communication studies. Finally, Joel is the founder and Executive Artistic Director of All Star Theatre, a non-profit theatre company in McAllen, Texas. In 2023 he was honored by the State of Texas House of Representatives with a House Resolution for his theatrical efforts in South Texas.
