Officials:

TAPPS will secure individuals to serve as officials for the meet.

Fees:

Individual Events             $15 per runner per event
Relays                                 $50 per relay

Coaches/ Meeting:

  1. There will  be a virtual coaches meeting on May 6, 2025.
  2. Packets may be picked up:
    1. Thursday: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
    2. Friday: 8:00 am
    3. Saturday: 8:00 am
  3. Packets (including meet information, numbers, etc.) will be distributed in the heat tent area of the stadium.

Implement Check In:

  1. Check In and Impound (Shot and Discus)
    1. No implements should be delivered to the event site by school personnel on the day of competition.
    2. All implements must be approved prior to the event.
    3. All implements will be impounded and delivered to the competition site.
  2. Thursday, May 7
    1. Open 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
    2. Building across the street from the heat tent
  3. Friday, May 8
    1. Open 7:15 am – 8:30 am
    2. Building across the street from the heat tent
  4. Check In – Pole Vault
    1. Pole Vaulters will check in their poles at the event site when they report.
    2. With their certification form.

Admission:

  1. Friday – General Admission: $15.00
  2. Saturday – General Admission: $15.00
  3. TAPPS passes will be honored at the main entrance only.
  4. Coaches and Managers must have wrist bands for admission to the facility and the visitor stands.

Parking:

  1. Buses should park as shown on the facility map.
  2. Buses should drop off as shown on the facility map.
  3. Please do not park in the closer parking lots so that fans have a place to park.

Awards:

  1. Individual Awards may be picked up beginning Saturday morning in the awards tent.
    1. All running events
    2. All field events
  2. Team Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the event on the infield.
  3. Academic All State nominations must be completed by the date shown on the TAPPS calendar.

Protests:

  1. All protests relating to matters which develop during the meet should be made at once and not later than 30 minutes after the result has been officially announced.
  2. Any such protest must be made in WRITING and include the $50.00 fee by the head coach and submitted to the designated official. No appeal shall be made in person unless requested by the meet.
  3. Event Results
    1. Will be held until final decision is made
    2. Appeal or protest will be announced at time of filing
    3. Results of protest will be available at the awards tent when final
  4. The decision may be appealed to the Jury of Appeals, whose decision will be FINAL.
  5. In matters related to review of order of finish, the coach may ask to review the photo with the referee. The meet will not be stopped to allow review.

Rules:

  1. National Federation Track and Field Rules with the UIL / TAPPS supplement will govern the Track and Field meets.
  2. SEE SECTION 187.T. OF THE TAPPS MANUAL IN REGARD TO UNIFORMS, AND TATTOOS.
  3. Spikes no longer than 5/16 inches are permitted.
  4. Markings- As presented in  coaches meeting.

Warm Up Area:

  1. The athletes’ warm-up area is located as shown on the facility diagrams.
  2. General warm-up will not be permitted in the track in-field area.
  3. Athletes may only access the infield through the heat tent.

Preferred lanes to be used for the Championship Meet as determined by the Host site.

Properly assigned competitor numbers must be worn on the FRONT of the uniform. Competitor numbers will be included in the team packet and will admit athletes into the Track Complex.

All officials, coaches, and trainers will enter and exit the complex from the designated gate. A sign will mark the entrance. Entrance will be allowed to those who wear appropriate wristband or competitor number.

Trainers will be on site to assist teams. Please contact the onsite trainers if EMS assistance is needed.

Tents may be set up as shown on the facility diagram

Start - Distance Events

  1. 3200 meter run and the 1600 meter run, both boys and girls, will be run from a “waterfall start.”
  2. The 800 meter run, will be run from a ½ stagger, and break, at the pole, following the first curve.

All athletes must be accompanied by a coach who is registered and TEaMs certified through RankOne. Do not send athletes with parents or someone not accountable to the school. Each school must provide one coach per team (one for boys team, one for girls team) to assist in field events.

THERE WILL BE NO SCRATCH MEETING AT THE STATE MEET. OTHER THAN RELAYS, THERE WILL NO SUBSTITUTIONS AT THE STATE MEET.

Coaches who know in advance that any of their athletes cannot compete at the state meet, should contact the TAPPS office so that the next athlete may move up. There will be no additions to the meet after 5 pm the Monday prior to the State Meet.

THE FAIR EFFORT RULE (SECTION 187. O) FOR THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS GOES INTO EFFECT AT NOON THE SATURDAY PRIOR TO THE MEET.

IF AN INDIVIDUAL SCRATCHES OR FAILS TO PARTICIPATE IN AN EVENT AT THE STATE MEET, THAT INDIVIDUAL CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY OTHER EVENTS AT THE STATE MEET.

Awards:

  • Top four (4) finishers in each event shall qualify for the state meet.
  • Individual Awards shall be made for those placing in the top 4 of all events including relays
  • Team Awards shall be made to the top three teams in each classification
    • Boys Team Awards 
    • Girls Team Awards
  • Awards should be picked up at the awards tent prior to leaving the meet.

Results:

    • Results will be posted digitally on the TAPPS Website at the conclusion of the meet.
    • Results will be posted at the awards tent as the meet progresses
