As we enter the second month of summer, we pause to celebrate Independence Day this weekend. This break allows us all to evaluate the protocols we have in place for summer participation and our eventual return to activities in the fall. In light of the increasing COVID 19 metrics across Texas, many schools and districts are extending the break through July 13th in an effort to limit student and staff exposure. While not required by TAPPS, we do believe there is benefit in this approach.
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) released a new course through NFHS Learn yesterday for coaches and administrators regarding COVID 19. The course is a good recap of information regarding the virus and is a good companion to the NFHS return to play outline published earlier this year. The course is not required by TAPPS, but can be accessed at www.nfhslearn.com.
