Administrators:

In accordance with TAPPS governance, an amendment proposal was presented to the membership in June.  That proposal is outlined below.

Constitutional Amendment Proposal:

The amendment proposal submitted to the TAPPS Executive Board requests a waiver process that would allow review of student eligibility related to the following constitutional provision:

Article V. Student Eligibility
To be eligible for competition, Section 1 requires that “A student/athlete has not reached 19 years of age prior to September 1 of the current school year”

TAPPS introduced the proposal through email, mail, and in person at TAPPSCON22.  TAPPS accepted all ballots postmarked by July 1, 2022 in the final tally. A review of those ballots is outlined below.

Voting in support of the proposal: 71
Voting against the proposal: 74

Total Votes Cast: 145

In accordance with TAPPS governance presented in the TAPPS Constitution, a two thirds majority of the 238 member schools must vote in favor of any proposal for changes to be adopted into the TAPPS Constitution.  Based on the ballots received, the proposal fails to reach the requisite number of votes required (159), and therefore no changes shall be made to the TAPPS Constitution.

Thank you to all who participated in the process.  Should questions arise, please contact the TAPPS office at [email protected] or by phone at 254-947-9268.
