As we continue to progress through the year, we have received numerous inquiries as to football in the spring and summer. Please review the information presented and linked below to assist in your planning for football this year.
Spring Football

- Begin date – Chosen by the member school
- End date – Chosen by the member school
- 14 Days of workouts to be concluded within 20 consecutive calendar days
- No Sunday workouts allowed

- Participation

- 8th Grade students not attending your school are not allowed to participate
- 8th Grade students from your school
- 8th Grade students may participate in noncontact workouts
- 8th Grade students are not allowed to participate in contact workouts with high school students
- Junior High students may participate in their own contact workouts if no high school students are present

- Interscholastic opportunities

- No interscholastic (between two schools) games or scrimmages
- Interscholastic practice (between two schools) is permissible
- Schools may host a Spring Game using only players from their school
- No game officials or official score
- Approved equipment for non-padded workouts

- Prior to last day of school
- Students attending your school are eligible to participate
- Student not attending your school are not eligible to participate
- Transfer students who will attend your school in the fall
- Must be enrolled in your school
- Must be up to date on any and all payments owed
- Must be withdrawn from the previous school
- Or after the last day of the published present school year at the previous school
- 8th Grade Students
- Attending your school are eligible to participate
- Not attending your school are not eligible to participate
- Prior to last day of school
Summer Workouts
- Basic Info
- Summer begins the day after the last day of school as published on the official school calendar
- Summer ends the day prior to the beginning of Dead Week as published on the official TAPPS calendar
- Participation
- Schools are allowed a maximum of 15 contact hours with each student
- Contact hours include:
- Weight programs
- Skills training programs
- Sport Specific Programs
- Summer League Programs
- Practice time included but game time is exempt
- Travel time is included
Two a Day Workouts
- Basic Info

- Practice – Helmets Only
- may not occur prior to the date shown on the official TAPPS calendar
- Practice – Full Pads
- may not occur prior to the date shown on the official TAPPS calendar
- Scrimmages
- First – may not occur prior to the date shown on the official TAPPS calendar
- Second – must have five (5) full days in between the scrimmages
- Practice – Helmets Only
